A QHSE Consultant is using the new knowledge she gained, studying CQI and IRCA Quality Management courses, to support her clients. Sarah Ball, from leading ISO Standards consultancy Blackmores UK Ltd, is the latest learner to achieve the Practitioner Certificate in Quality Management. The Certificate, which consists of eight courses, enables Quality Management practitioners develop their understanding of management level quality topics. And, how this knowledge applies to their role within their own organisation.

We asked Sarah to share with us more about her role, how the courses have helped her in her career and her experiences of studying with rove.

“As a QHSE Consultant, my days at work are very varied. I support many clients across a broad range of industries and cover a lot of different ISO standards. The best thing about my job is the variety.  No two days are the same and I get to work with lots of amazing clients and watch their confidence and knowledge about quality management grow.”

I WANTED TO PUSH MYSELF AND DEVELOP MY CAREER

After completing the CQI Level 3 Certificate several years ago, Sarah decided to enrol on to the Practitioner Certificate to expand her knowledge and advance her career.

“I wanted to push myself to demonstrate that I can put the theory into practice. It was also a good way to develop my career.”

THE COURSES HAVE ENABLED ME TO SUPPORT MY CLIENTS

“My role includes helping my clients to implement management systems and to maintain their certifications. What I have learnt on the courses, I have been able to put into practice with my clients.”

COMPLETING THE WORKBOOKS BROUGHT THE THEORY TO LIFE

For each of the eight Practitioner courses, assessment is two-fold.  Learners need to complete a workbook and then sit an exam.  Sarah enjoyed completing the workbooks as it enabled her to take theoretical concepts and relate them directly to her role.

“The favourite bit of my course was completing the workbook questions, especially those related to my own company experience – as this brought the theory to life.”

THE ONLINE EXAMS WERE ALSO A BONUS FOR SARAH

All rove’s Quality Management courses are delivered via supported distance learning, Sarah enjoyed the flexibility this delivery method allows.

“The flexibility to study around my full-time job and to be able to complete exams remotely meant I did not have to travel to an exam centre.”

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TUTOR’S KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Once you’ve enrolled onto a course with rove, you are allocated a dedicated tutor who provides guidance and feedback during your course. Sarah’s advice to others considering studying a CQI and IRCA Quality Management course, is to make the most of this knowledge and expertise.

“My advice to others, would be make the most of your tutor’s knowledge and do not be afraid to ask questions.”
