About these courses

The CQI and IRCA Practitioner level courses in Quality Management provide delegates with an understanding of management level quality topics and how this knowledge applies to their organisation and industry.

These courses are designed specifically for those working in a quality role and/or aspire to middle management.

There are eight CQI and IRCA Certified Practitioner courses you can study. You can enrol on single or multiple courses. Successful completion of all eight courses results in the Practitioner Certificate in Quality Management. You can find out more about the courses below.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

All our of courses are delivered by supported distance learning – which simply means you can study at home or work, at a time – and a pace – which suits you.

Once you’ve enrolled, your dedicated tutor will contact you with eveything you need to get started. You’ll have 24/7 access to everything you need to complete your course – your learning, study support and assessment materials, through our web-based system. You will tutor will provide your induction where they’ll go through everything you need to know. They will also provide timely advice, support and feedback throughout your course.

When you’ve successfully completed your course you’ll receive a digital CQI and IRCA course certificate. It really is that simple.

ARE THESE COURSES FOR ME?

The Practitioner courses are aimed at those practising in quality and aspiring towards middle management. At the point of enrolment, we ask you to provide a brief statement on your experience, training, qualifications and study goals (or you can send your CV). Our Programme Lead will assess this to ensure the level is appropriate and will support your development aims.

Typically, we’d advise at least two years’ experience within a quality management role for these courses.

HOW AM I ASSESSED?

Assessment for practitioner courses is two-fold. On successful completion of the course workbook for you will sit a CQI-set, multiple-choice (30 question), open book, one hour exam. The pass mark is 66%.

When you pass the exam you will be awarded a certificate of achievement.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which course is right for me?

All three levels are mapped against the Profession Map. We will need an understanding of your job role, responsibilities, your experience, prior achievement and your aspirations especially if you are aiming for chartered status.

Please get in touch and one of our dedicated staff will contact you to give you the information, advice and guidance that will help you with this.

When can I start the course?

We don’t have set enrolment dates – you can start the course at a time which works for you.

How long will the courses take me to complete?

Each course has guided learning hours and we have designed each course based around these. How long it takes depends on your individual circumstances and how much time you can dedicate to study. If you have more time to study you can complete sooner.

The maximum duration per course is 6 months (CQI and IRCA timeframe).

For those studying the Foundation, Practitioner or Professional Certificate in Quality Management you have a maximum of 3 years to complete (CQI and IRCA timeframe).

Indicative study hours and suggested course durations are given below:

  • Foundation: 7-16 hours  4 weeks
  • Practitioner: 24 hours - 10 weeks
  • Professional: 24-40 hours (dependent on course) - 12 weeks.

Please note: our course resources are comprehensive and so study time can exceed this, if you wish to get more out of the course.

How are the courses delivered?

We deliver our courses through supported distance learning.

When you enrol you will be allocated a dedicated education and quality specialist Tutor who will provide guidance and feedback during your course.

Using your web based account you will access learning resources, submit your work, view your feedback, see your progress and access your certificate.

What’s included?

Course fees include course induction, tutorial support, learning, study support and assessment materials, access to our online system/s and CQI registration and certification.

Please note: the ISO 9001 standard and ISO 9000 are not provided for FD116.

Do the courses lead to CQI membership?

By completing a CQI and IRCA Certified quality training course you meet the training requirements to support an application for the CQI.

Depending on the level of the course you have completed you can apply for different grades of membership.
