Governance & Assurance Manager Louise Muller has completed the CQI and IRCA Professional Certificate in Quality Management, enhancing her strategic understanding of quality, risk and improvement. She is now applying her learning to strengthen governance and drive continual improvement across her organisation.
We caught up with Louise to find out about her role at Amey, why she chose to study the Professional Certificate in Quality Management and how the course is helping her apply quality management in practice, improve governance and develop the skills needed to lead a team of quality professionals.
COLLABORATING ACROSS TEAMS TO DRIVE QUALITY
Working for a leading provider of engineering, operations and decarbonisation solutions for infrastructure, each day brings something new for Louise.
“I collaborate with teams across the organisation to enhance the Integrated Management System governance and assurance, plan and conduct internal and supplier audits, as well as managing and coordinating external audits,” she explains.
“The best thing about my role is that I have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with a wide range of people across many different roles and specialisms. This allows me to build strong working relationships, gain valuable insights into how various teams operate and work alongside them to support the delivery of high-quality, compliant projects that make meaningful impacts for the organisation and our clients.”
BUILDING STRATEGIC SKILLS FOR LEADERSHIP
Louise wanted to strengthen her knowledge of quality management and develop the skills to lead a team of quality professionals. Through the CQI and IRCA Professional Certificate, she completed six courses covering topics such as performance measurement, quality strategy, process excellence, supply chains, change and improvement and risk management.
“I enrolled on these courses to strengthen my understanding in areas such as risk, quality strategy, supply chain management, change and improvement with the aim of developing the skills needed to lead a team of quality professionals.”
APPLYING LEARNING TO REAL-WORLD SCENARIOS
Louise enjoyed the practical nature of the courses, in particular completing the workbooks. By working through the workbook exercises she was able to apply the learning directly to real scenarios in her organisation.
“This practical approach enabled me to uncover valuable insights and pinpoint areas where we could strengthen our processes”.
DRIVING COMPLIANCE AND CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT
Completing the CQI and IRCA Professional Certificate has given Louise practical techniques and insights she can apply directly in her role.
“By applying the techniques, knowledge and guidance gained from this course, I believe I will be able to strengthen a culture of compliance and drive continual improvement within my organisation,” said Louise.
“I am excited to put the knowledge and skills learned into practice and to see the meaningful improvements they will bring to my organisation.”
