We caught up with Michael to ask him about how his studies have helped him in his role, his thoughts on distance learning and whether he’d recommend CQI and IRCA Quality Management courses to others.
MY ROLE AS A QUALITY CONTROL/QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
I have been a Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager for many years, gathering invaluable experience across many major projects.
I wear many hats at B-Gen ltd, one of which is overseeing our QMS (Quality Management System), which ensures we have a good and functional quality management system in place. This increases efficiency, better employee morale and credence in the international business arena. You can learn what improvements are needed by fact finding within a system of documentation and analysis, which in turn inspires confidence from our clients and customers. It is also obviously very helpful to have a robust QMS for auditing purposes, which in turn is proof to our clients that we are trustworthy, responsible, and knowledgeable.
The best thing about my role is solving issues which arise on a daily basis, and developing and improving current and designing new processes.
WHY STUDY THE PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN QUALITY MANAGEMENT?
I enrolled on CQI and IRCA Professional Certificate in Quality Management in December 2021 as I wanted to increase my knowledge, understanding and application of quality management principles, concepts, tools and techniques.
I was also keen to achieve a professionally recognised qualification which will benefit both myself, and my organisation.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING HAS BEEN KEY TO MICHAEL’S SUCCESS
I work on a number of major projects at work, so completing my course had to be done outside my working day. This was quite challenging as I have a young family.
Luckily, completing the course via distance learning allowed me to fit my studies around my family and work commitments, as I was able to choose when I studied. The flexibility which distance learning provides really worked for me.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE CQI AND IRCA PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE TO OTHERS?
I would recommend others to study CQI and IRCA Quality Management courses, because of the flexibility and the in-depth knowledge you develop while undertaking the course.
HOW THE PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE IN QUALITY MANAGEMENT HAS HELPED MICHAEL’S CAREER
Michael completed the Professional Certificate in Quality Management, which consists of six individual courses, ranging from quality strategy and planning, supply chain assurance to risk management in July 2022. He believes that studying the course has increased his knowledge and he has become more confident in his role.
